Angie Kelly

My name is Angie Kelly and I am club leader and one of the coaches at Kent Angelettes. I first picked up a baton at the age of 11 in my home town of Edinburgh. I moved to the Isle of Sheppey, Kent at the age of 15 where I carried on the sport. I stopped competing just before I formed my club so that I could put all my commitment in running my own club. My teaching initially started out by helping out two other local baton twirling clubs and I then gained the experience and knowledge in taking my exams to get my qualifications and setting up my own club. I qualified as a BBTSA (British Baton Twirling Sports Association) Coach in 1997. I attend the BBTSA Teachers Convention each year to maintain continuing high standards. My occupation is a full time Dental Nurse.

Kerry Brown

My name is Kerry and I started baton twirling at the age of 5 at Queenborough Twirlers. I won my first National Title in 1990 for Basic Strut and have also won other National Titles throughout the years. I have also been twirling with Sheerness East Twirlers and Lydd Ladybirds. In 2000, I represented England at the European Championships in Germany. I then put my twirling to one side for a few years, to have my son Ethan. I got back into twirling and now coach Kent Angelettes on Wednesdays with Angie, and I still continue competing in my individuals. I have a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts and hold the IDTA Student Teachers Certificate. I also run my own dance class which is called Inspirations.

Claire Targa

I started twirling at the age of 3 with the Sheppey Majorettes who later became sheppey Maids of Kent.  I participated in all aspects of twirling from displays, coaching, competitions to grading.  The highlights being British National Team Championships 8 times and performing at Wembly.  I am assistand coach on a Monday evening.  My daughter Esme twirls with the Monday group.

I have been competing in the National Championships for 5 years now. I enjoy dancing a lot and it now takes up most of my week. I also help at the Rainbow Unit in Minster and I am part of the theatre company at school.

Tina Bean

My name is Tina and I started helping out at Kent Angelettes when my daughters joined the club and when I took over as Treasurer in April 2004. I look after the finances of the club and try to ensure the money is there when Angie and the girls need it for competitions, equipment etc. In my life outside Kent Angelettes, I work part time for a family charity and I co-run a Rainbow Unit at Queenborough School. I also have a very understanding husband who gets “abandoned” twice a year so that we can take part in the National Championships!!!
